After Scotland, it is now the turn of England and Wales. The most recent statistics, i.e., those showing 2021 figures on the number of abortions in the United Kingdom were released on 21 June.

As many as 214,869 voluntary terminations of pregnancy were reported in 2021, the highest number since the procedure became legal in Britain with the passage of the Abortion Act in 1967. Chilling numbers.

In 2021, 99 percent of abortions in England and Wales were funded by the National Health Service (NHS), although 77 percent of the total were performed in the private sector.

In 87 percent of cases, the procedure was performed as a chemical or pharmacological abortion, a slight increase from the 2020 figure of 85 percent. This type of abortion has risen by 40 percent since 2011. iFamNews has repeatedly reported on how the COVID-19 pandemic has opened the door to “DIY” abortion in the UK, where women were allowed to obtain the “kill pill” by post and taking it at home, to the detriment of women, their health and safety.

The report highlights and compares numerous data, relating for example to the mother’s age, marital status, ethnicity, and even the exact area of residence, and the “legal” reasons identified for allowing access to abortion. The age of the child in the womb and numerous other data that may vary in the case history are also taken into account. All, however, give us chills.
