Once upon a time sports was one place where a person could leave politics behind and just enjoy watching a game being played by elite athletes. But no more. Ever since Big Sports has entered the culture wars on the side of the woke, our sports have become politicized.
Take the recent NBA game played in Milwaukee on January 26. As reported by Fox News, the Milwaukee Bucks made that day “Pride Night” that featured a drag show at halftime. A game that had children in attendance.
The NHL is no better. Its recent Pride night in Philadelphia had players wear rainbow-themed jerseys and use hockey sticks taped in rainbow colors. The event garnered national attention when one brave Philadelphia Flyers player—Ivan Provorov—refused to participate in the Pride festivities because of his religious beliefs. The NHL also recently gave support to a hockey tournament for transgender players—where a woman who believed she was a man suffered a concussion after being hit by a man who believed he was woman. You cannot make this stuff up.
So will our sports ever return to just being sports? I doubt it, not as long as the woke elites running Big Sports are at the helm. Only by refusing to support such wokeness will Big Sports get the message. When will the American people start doing this?
