In a hard-hitting speech at the Munich Security Conference, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance attacked Europe’s disregard for pro-life advocates’ rights, silencing of Christians, and the elite’s detachment from voter sentiment. He prioritized two core rights in his critique: the right to life and freedom of religion. In direct contrast to all President Joe Biden’s frequent slumbers during official meetings, Vance seized the chance to expose Europe’s internal threats, particularly focusing on examples of religious persecution.

Vance recounted the arrest and subsequent conviction of a British Army veteran for silent prayer outside an abortion clinic, terming it a violation of conscience rights. He articulated concern over similar events in Sweden, and instances of EU Commission members calling for social media shutdowns in times of civil unrest, citing it as censorship of free expression.

In a call-to-action, Vance outlined President Donald Trump’s intent to negotiate a peaceful solution between Russia and the Ukraine. Alluding to President Trump’s past usage of the phrase “the enemy within,” Vance expressed his worry that the threat to Europe did not arise from Russia or China, but rather from Europe’s internal conflicts.

He wrapped up his speech by sternly reminding European nations of their responsibility to fund their own defense. Vance’s speech received significant praise, with some pro-life advocates expressing their gratitude for his message. The speech has confirmed the Trump Administrations concern for free speech and religious liberty across the world, and emphasized the desire for Europe to confront their problems concerning these issues head-on.
