House Majority Leader Rep. Steve Scalise has revealed that he has been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a treatable blood cancer. After experiencing several days of feeling unwell, Scalise underwent bloodwork that revealed irregularities. Further tests confirmed the diagnosis, and he has since begun treatment, which is expected to continue for several months.

Despite his diagnosis, Scalise remains committed to his work and intends to continue serving as Majority Leader and representing Louisiana’s First Congressional District. He expressed gratitude for the early detection of the cancer and the availability of treatment options. Scalise expressed his appreciation for his medical team and acknowledged the support of his family, friends, colleagues, and constituents.
