The second section of the Provincial Court of Cáceres upholds the appeal of the Spanish Foundation of Christian Lawyers and reopens the case against the president of the Provincial Council, Carlos Carlos Rodríguez.

Five mayors of the province are summoned to testify, among them the mayor of the capital, Luis Salaya. The mayors of Gargüera de la Vera, Brozas, Talaveruela de la Vera, and Barrado are also called to testify.

Christian Lawyers accuses the president of the Provincial Council of a crime of prevarication (art. 404 CP) with the aggravating circumstance of discrimination and another hate crime (art. 510 CP).

He denounces that “by the Diputación de Cáceres is pressuring several municipalities to remove the crosses that are in their respective municipalities. This pressure is carried out by linking the granting of subsidies to the removal of the crosses”.

The president of Christian Lawyers, Polonia Castellanos, celebrates that “Justice is investigating the case”. He asks that “all the demolitions of crosses in the province be stopped since the person responsible for them is being investigated for this reason”.

Castellanos assures that “what the Diputación de Cáceres is doing is one more example of how the governors of secularist parties use any excuse to do away with Christian symbols”.

Remember that “the Diputación de Cáceres has allocated 100,000 euros for the development of a catalog of Francoist vestiges contravening the judgment of the TSJ of Extremadura 1133/2019, which made clear the incompetence of the Provincial Council of Badajoz for the creation of a committee to make an inventory of this type.”

Polonia Castellanos assures that “every time a cross is knocked down, Christian Lawyers will bring the responsible party to justice”. And he announces that “we will not stop until we replace all the crosses that are thrown away”.
