Let’s face it. Our British cousins have been on a downslide for over 60 years. In that time frame, Britain has managed to go from being a great nation to one that slavishly adheres like no other country to the culture of wokeness. No matter how woke Britain gets, it still will never be woke enough for the radical LGBT lobby.
For example, take the recent Brit Awards music ceremony held in London on February 8, 2022. In order to appease the radical LGBT community, the ceremony agreed this year to do away with “male” and “female” award categories and instead have sex-neutral ones. For example, there would no more be awards for “Best Male Artist” and “Best Female Artist”; instead, there would now be only an award for “Artist of the Year.”
Why did they make this change? To make sure that people who do not “identify” as either male or female are not “excluded” from winning awards. As the Brit Awards website explained:
“The BRITs confirm that for the 2022 show they will move away from the Female and Male categories, and will launch new awards for Artist of the Year and International Artist of the Year, celebrating artists solely for their music and work, rather than how they choose to identify or as others may see them, as part of The BRITs’ commitment to evolving the show to be as inclusive and as relevant as possible.”
Now that the event eliminated sex-based categories and the radical LGBT lobby seemed to be appeased, nothing could offend the woke, right?
Wrong.
And why? Because the ceremony did not know ahead of time that award winners could say something seemingly harmless that could nevertheless still offend radical transgender activists. And what was the offending statement made by Adele, a woke British superstar herself who won awards for Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Artist of the year? Upon accepting her Artist of the Year Award, she said:
“I understand why the name of this award has changed, but I love being a woman and being a female artist—I do! I’m really proud of us, I really, really, am.”
Right after Adele uttered these words, the radical transgender mob went into action to attack her for daring to say that “being a woman” actually means something, that a “female” is actually something unique and special. One transgender activist who describes himself as a “staunch feminist” immediately attacked Adele for being a TERF (a trans-exclusionary radical feminist, a slur for women who dare to defend womanhood and say that a biological male can never become a woman):
“Please, no ADELE can’t be a TERF. That last comment, though ambiguous, could be perceived as TERF-y. Please no. “
Another radical transgender activist tweeted:
“Who’d have thought #Adele was a transphobe and would use her platform to call for the destruction of the trans community. Especially the confused teenagers.”
Thankfully, and unusual in this age of wokeness, people ignored their fears of the woke mob and came to the defense of Adele. Feminist and refugee activist Ohjali Rauf tweeted:
Debbie Hayton, a journalist and teacher, defended Adele in the Spectator. Hayton first dealt with Adele being called a TERF:
“Adele has been labelled a Terf, or trans-exclusionary radical feminist, online. Terf, of course, is the slur thrown at women who stand up for their sex… JK Rowling, Rosie Duffield, Kathleen Stock and other women have also had that label thrown at them. These talented women have been pursued and persecuted mercilessly, simply for standing up for their sex. I said women deliberately. Whatever the thought police might want us to believe, they certainly know the difference between men and women when they unleash their attacks.”
While Adele most likely has rough days ahead, Hayton urged her to stand firm in defending women:
“There may be difficult days ahead for Adele. The temptation to apologise for apparent wrong-think might be huge. But her gender police critics are unlikely to be satisfied by apologies, so it’s vital she stands firm: Adele’s message to women and girls was inspirational. Here was a woman–who has sold tens of millions of albums–telling the world she was proud to be a woman. That’s something to celebrate, not condemn.”
The Famous Artist Birdy Rose, who has publicly opposed biological men competing against women in sports, criticized Adele’s detractors:
The best thing about the Adele situation is that it shows that all any woman has to do to be called a “terf” is acknowledge her own sex. It exposes how low the bar is & how high the cost is for a woman who speaks the truth without first considering if deranged men are OK with it.
In Evie Magazine, Gina Florio best summed up this non-issue regarding Adele:
“Only in an upside-down society where we have thrown gender to the wayside in a fit of insanity would we ever see a female artist under fire for simply stating, “I love being a woman.” Adele has yet to respond to any of the controversy, but we hope she never does–because at the end of the day it’s a non-issue that doesn’t even deserve a minute of her attention. She is a female artist, point blank. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with embracing that and appreciating it.”
So there you have it. A British music awards ceremony that went completely woke by abandoning male and female categories is still attacked by the radical LGBT mob for an award winner’s comment that recognized the uniqueness of women. And, ironically, the person who made the comment is a known supporter of much of the LGBT agenda. But we are in an “upside-down” world where reality is blatantly being denied by woke activists. Let us hope Adele remains strong and refuses to back down to the LGBT lynch mob. Women are important. Women are unique. Women need to be valued. We must never forget these truths.
