To defend the life of the most fragile and the weakest in Mexico, Pope Francis implored through a letter sent to Cardinal Carlos Aguiar Retes, especially for this Friday, September 30, when the World Congress of Families (WCF) 2022 was inaugurated.

According to the Mexican new agency Quadratin, at the XIV WCF, an intercultural and interreligious event, the Archbishop Primate of Mexico read the Supreme Pontiff’s message signed by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See for Pope Francis:

“God, in his infinite and merciful love, wanted the family to be a community of life with its own autonomous consistency, a community of people who love, dialogue, sacrifice themselves for others and defend life, especially the most fragile, the weakest.”

“With these sentiments, Pope Francis, while accompanying them with prayer, prays that these days of reflection will be a call to assist families with attention and affection, especially those in difficulty, those who have been forced to leave their land, those who have no home, no work or who for many reasons suffer because of the crises that hit our world,” said Cardinal Aguiar before more than five thousand attendees gathered at the Expo Santa Fe in Mexico City.

The World Congress of Families 2022 was inaugurated by Cardinal Carlos Aguiar Retes, the president of the International Organization for the Family and the World Congress of Families, Brian Brown, as well as the president of the Red Familia Council, José Manuel Campero, and Pastor Benjamín Rivera, founder of the Centro Familiar Cristiano de México.
