The 2014 Marche pour la Vie in Paris drew a diverse crowd of pro-life supporters, including families, young people, and religious groups, marching from Denfert-Rochereau Square to the Invalides under the banner of defending human life from conception.
Attendance figures varied significantly, with police reporting around 16,000 participants and organizers claiming up to 40,000, reflecting the event’s growing momentum as Europe’s largest annual anti-abortion demonstration.
The protest was particularly influenced by concurrent pro-life efforts in Spain, where proposed reforms to restrict abortion inspired French activists to oppose similar liberalizations at home, including amendments to France’s abortion laws being debated in parliament at the time.
Speakers at the rally emphasized family values and alternatives to abortion, such as better support for mothers, while criticizing government policies seen as devaluing life.
