Beware, citizens of the EU: You might be eating insects!

I was reading this news and could not believe my eyes. I had to check the official source to overcome my astonishment and bewilderment. Thus I came to the official journal of the European Union of January 4, 2023, in which the implementing regulation EU 2023/5 was published. This regulation, approved by the relevant Commission just the day before, authorized the use of Acheta Domesticus (house cricket) powder on the European market, as a new ingredient in foodstuffs for mass consumption. But contrary to all transparency and consumer protection practices, there was no requirement to warn consumers that these products contain insects!

This means that, as of this year, the European Union authorizes the addition of insect powder to bakery products, pasta and other semi-finished products marketed for mass consumption. The list of ingredients will not include insects, but only Acheta Domesticus.

Obviously, except for the very few people who check the ingredients of the food they buy and who also know Latin or are familiar with the technical names of animals, most Europeans will be eating insects without knowing it before the end of the year.

The mass media have not even mentioned this fact. Their suspicious silence is undoubtedly related to the manipulation of the masses to impose the consumption of food with ingredients originating from insects. They will wait a few years to speak openly to people who are already consuming it. In this way, and once consumption is normalized, they will avoid any possible resistance.

Another important omission is that the shell of these insects contains chitin. Although chitin is used as a cosmetic without any problem, this polymer is a potent allergy generator when ingested by humans. Mammals, with rare exceptions such as bats, do not have enzymes capable of digesting chitin. Our intestine does not assimilate it.

Nor have they said anything about these insects containing metamorphic steroids. In particular, ecdysterone which is an anabolic used by cheating bodybuilders to artificially build muscle. The consumption of these steroids is prohibited because of their harmful effects on health.

For all these reasons, it is important to make it known and let people make their own decisions.

This is the list of products in the EU that may already contain cricket powder:

Multigrain breads and pastries
Sweet and savory cookies and crackers
Cereal bars
Dry premix for bakery products
Stuffed or unfilled dry dough products.
Prepared dishes based on vegetables and legumes
Ready-made pizzas
General products based on lactoserum paste and powder
Meat substitutes (vegetarian alternative to meat)
Soups and soup powder concentrates
Snacks with corn grit base

In the meantime, check the labels of the products you consume. Maybe that could be the reason why you’re feeling repeated desire to jump during daytime or sing at night.

Let everyone see this list in the official journal of the European Union and realize how Brussels wants to feed the families of Europe. From now on, please check if the product you want to buy contains Acheta domesticus if you do not wish to consume cricket powder that has already been authorized for our consumption.
