Päivi Räsänen again on the front lines against ideological instrumentalization

Finnish MP calls on the government not to comply supinely with the Trans Act update, but to conduct the necessary reviews.

The fall session of the Finnish Parliament will begin on September 6. Among other things, MPs of the Scandinavian country will have to deal with a controversial bill, namely amendments to the legislation on transgender persons, advocated for by Prime Minister Sanna Marin, a 36-year-old from the Social Democratic Party, who also brings “[…] to motivation the personal, not to say personalistic, fact that she grew up in a ‘rainbow family.'”

Arguably the thorniest aspect, as iFamNews has already pointed out, is that of “sex change” for little boys and girls as young as 15 years old, strongly advocated by some transgender activist groups, who claim that “[…] children are aware of their gender from an early age.”

Päivi Räsänen, MP and former minister of the interior, does not agree with this. She was in court for “homophobia” charges simply because she quoted the Bible which, as we all know, says that “male and female God created them.” Fortunately, this March she was acquitted of all charges. Päivi disagrees, even though the judicial proceedings against her were reopened in June despite a full acquittal because–imagine that–freedom of thought and expression displease the state ideology.

Päivi Räsänen, therefore, addresses a parliamentary question in writing to her country’s government with respect to the quality of “gender reassignment” treatments, calling for the need for thorough investigation to ensure the safety of people, especially the youngest and most fragile ones. This was reported in an article published on the website of KD Lehti, the weekly newspaper of the Finnish Christian Democrats party, to which Räsänen belongs.

The MP is especially concerned about the perceived LGBT+ ideological drift in Finland, which seems to be copying the bad example of British legislation, which was too lax until someone grasped the scope of the damage that casual and disrespectful procedures at the delicate stage of adolescence could create for young people. One example is that of the Tavistock clinic, currently in the eye of the storm for superficial not to say downright improper practices, especially after the case of Keira Bell reached the headlines.

As Päivi Räsänen argues, currently in Finland, as well as in the United Kingdom, “[…] gender dysphoria is approached mainly from an ideological direction, which aims at acceptance of all sexualities. […] this approach leads to a lack of critical examination of treatment methods. There have been messages from child psychiatry professionals talking about pressure from organizations with ideological interests, which have succeeded in silencing scientific evaluation and open discussion,” she says, calling on parliament “not to supinely accept what will be proposed, but to carefully evaluate and investigate in order to avoid any abuse that will later be too late to regret.”
