We all know that Hollywood, the media, the advertising industry, Big Business, Big Tech, and academia are woke. But did you know that Big Cookie is also woke? That’s right. Oreo Cookies, founded over 100 years ago, is a full-fledged member of Team Woke.
On April 4, 2022, Oreo released online a short video showing a young boy of Asian descent practicing before his immediate family coming out as gay to his grandparents and extended family. (The woke producers of this video get kudos—not only is the main character gay, but he is also not white! I can see the producers sitting around a table saying: “Can we also make him transgender and non-Christian? Nah, there is not enough time in the video for that. Let’s just be happy we checked off two boxes….”) The only reference to an Oreo cookie is when a sister quickly grabs one on her way to answering the doorbell being rung by the extended family coming to visit. On the notes the boy was using for practicing his coming-out speech we see that the mother wrote: “She might be my mother, but you are my son.” (We know what the mother is thinking: “You see, old people like my mother are not woke like us. Don’t worry about what they think. They are too traditional and are homophobes, transphobes, bigots, and Nazis.”)
In the tweet containing the video Oreo wrote:
“Coming out doesn’t happen just once. It’s a journey that needs love and courage every step of the way. Share our new film and let someone know you’re their #LifelongAlly.”
What the video and the tweet have to do with promoting Oreos as a tasty treat is not apparent. The only thing that is apparent is that Oreo wants to virtue signal the world that it doesn’t want to be missing on the list of the top woke companies.
But this video should not surprise us about the cookie. Back in 2020 Oreo tweeted:
“A loving world starts with respecting others. Q: Why do pronouns matter? A: Respect! Using someone’s pronouns (like he or she) correctly shows respect.”
(But we see how Oreo was not woke enough here: it only referenced two pronouns. It forgot “they,” “zir,” “xe,” and the other 700 possible pronouns of the woke world.)
So there you have it. America’s most beloved cooking, the Oreo, has now gone full woke. So if your son wants to come out as gay or transgender, just grab an Oreo when the doorbell rings and all will go well. And if it doesn’t, just ignore the homophobes, transphobes, and Nazis who do not support you. It is shame that I will never taste an Oreo again….
