Following the recent unveiling of the Episcopal Church’s new “pride shield” to celebrate LGBT inclusion, critics are raising concerns over the erosion of Christian faith in the church. The newly revealed emblem features traditional religious symbols as well as the rainbow of the LGBT flag, along with pastel hues seen on the transgender flag.
The church’s original emblem traditionally used red, white and blue colors to represent the sacrifice of Christ and Christian martyrs, the ‘purity of the Christian faith’, and the humanity of Christ. The new design, marketed ahead of the upcoming ‘pride month,’ has seen the ‘purity of Christian faith’ represented by white sections filled with LGBT pride colors.
Critics such as parental rights advocate Frank McCormick have claimed that the Episcopal Church has “adopted the flags of their Woke colonizers”. Meanwhile, Canadian psychologist Dr. Jordan B. Peterson predicts the Episcopal Church may soon be entirely taken over by LGBT ideologies, stating that “soon the abomination of desolation will be put in the highest place”. With the increased focus on LGBT “representation”, the very foundations of Christian teachings within the Episcopal Church will become secondary, reducing the religious significance of the church.
