“E” is for “Eunuch”

Yet another letter has been added to the gender-identity alphabet soup, and this one might come as a shock to even the most cynical critic of the movement.

That letter is E, and it stands for eunuch.

This particular identity is now gaining both traction and official recognition, as it has now been addressed in an entire chapter of the Standards of Care and Ethical Guidelines of WPATH—the World Professional Association of Transgender Health. At a recent WPATH conference in Montreal, reports MercatorNet, Dr. Michael S. Irwig called eunuchs “one of the most marginalized and stigmatized communities in any culture anywhere across the world.” According to his colleague’s estimates, there are at least 8,000—10,000 “self-identified voluntary eunuchs in North America today.” “Together,” the story continues, the speakers “recommended that doctors create a ‘welcoming environment’ for men who have been castrated or who are thinking about it.”

The new guidelines from WPATH legitimize a movement that several other news sources have covered in recent years. A Daily Beast article devotes itself to the secret lives of “cutters”—the men who offer their services in castrating other men. These men get their clients online or through referrals, meet up in private homes or hotels, and use basic and easily accessible surgical equipment to remove the testicles and/or scrotum of those seeking to become eunuchs. Occasionally, something goes terribly wrong. But for the most part, claims The Daily Beast, the surgeries are successful and the clients “happy” with the results.

Other accounts of this particular population detail the kinds of stuff from horror films—as in this Oklahoma case, where one of the men doing the cutting admitted afterwards that he was also a cannibal, and the client found himself in dire need of an ER. The accounts also proliferate with descriptions of men wanting to be rid of their penises, wanting a “smooth” genital area, desiring to add a vagina, etc. Such modifications, proponents argue, are not necessarily the result of mental illness. Rather, they are simply body modifications, made because the person in question didn’t like that particular body part, or didn’t “identify” with having a particular set or piece of genitalia.

To be clear, eunuchs are not transsexuals. The research defines them as “biological males who have undergone voluntary castration for reasons other than male-to-female transsexualism.” Dr. Curtis Crane, whom one Vice story describes as “the nation’s leading expert on penises,” argues:

“Well, you know, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander. . . . There are some patients that were born male who don’t want to fully convert to becoming female, but they don’t identify with their testicles, or they don’t identify with their scrotum, or they don’t identify with their phallus, but they still feel male; they want masculine pronouns. To me, it’s a double standard to accept the gender fluid female, but not the gender fluid male.”

One has to admit, he has a point, in the deranged logic of “gender identity.” Eunuchs are now considered an identity in and of themselves, and sites like Reddit or other conversation boards host discussions about how to self-operate, where to find a cutter, and what gender treatment clinics will also do castrations. It’s all a bit like the “early” days of the transgender movement, before it became legitimized and people seeking to live as the opposite sex could do so with complete medical “legitimacy.”

What hurts one, hurts us all

But rules, norms, and natural law are all there for the protection of mankind. When we throw the law out of the window, we open the door to our own darkness. (Notably, many of those in the “cutter” population admit to gaining sexual excitement from the procedure, and there is a lot of BDSM storytelling that goes along with the experience of being a eunuch.) Two of the most ominous verses in the Bible deal with what happens when mankind is left to his own devices. Judges 21:25 reads: “In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” The second is Romans 1:24: “Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves.” The most horrifying things happened when God allowed man to pursue the desires of the flesh, to call good evil and evil good.

That is precisely what is happening now, with the normalization of so-called “marginalized” populations, like those that want to hurt themselves or gain sexual excitement from hurting others. Some of the most recent revisions to WPATH guidelines are telling. Among other things, the group no longer recommends a mental health exam before seeking gender-affirming care, because transgenderism is an identity and not a disorder. It also recommends the removal of all age restrictions of transgender-affirming care, and also a full range of fertility support “to allow non-traditional partners to form a family.” This “support” might range from “preservation of sperm or eggs prior to hormonal or surgical therapy, to pre- and post-natal support for individuals with a uterus.” (If there was ever a more degrading phrase to women than “individuals with a uterus,” by the way, I have yet to hear it.)

It used to be the commonsense conclusion that when someone wanted to hurt themselves—by refusing sustenance, resisting relationships, cutting, or (now) cutting off body parts—that person was in mental distress and deserved our compassion and intervention. These were vulnerable populations, in need of care, love, and therapy. Now, according to modern ideologies, they need our “affirmation,” so they can find “fulfillment.”

And such behavior is now beginning to hurt even more vulnerable populations—specifically children. Girls who might once upon a time have simply been called tomboys are now labeled as transgender boys. And babies are now created in labs, implanted in the “individual with a uterus,” or discarded at the will of the human creator, all at the whim of the adults involved and with no thought given to the true needs of the child.

There is real hurt in these populations, real pain that no amount of surgery or hormones (or hormone blockers) will alleviate. Mankind has been given over to his own desires, desires that result in his own mutilation and self-destruction. And the devil rejoices.
