Donald Trump clinched victory over Kamala Harris in the 2024 US Presidential Election, a win that reveals considerable changes across vital demographics and contested states. Trump clinched the essential 270 electoral college votes, with projections showing his figures are likely to increase as the counting concludes. Notably, he earned substantial support from Black and Hispanic voters, illustrating a preference for improved economic conditions and reduced criminal activities over expanded abortion rights.
While Trump adopted a moderate stance on abortion, respecting the Dobbs ruling that permits states to devise their own abortion laws, Harris campaigned for unrestricted abortions up to birth. However, her promotion of this stance was not enough to secure a win.
Having secured a second win, Trump becomes the second president in US history to serve two non-consecutive terms. A conservative news outlet described Trump’s win as the greatest political comeback of all times, having successfully contended with relentless liberal media attacks, Democratic Party lawmakers, a rogue Justice Department, and a vindictive president.
The victory was attributed to Trump’s successful coalition of diverse demographics, including Hispanic, working-class, and rural voters. Furthermore, only 28 percent of Americans reportedly believe the country is heading down the right path, a poor figure for any incumbent party wishing to retain the White House.
