A North Carolina LGBT pride festival is facing a serious backlash after it listed sponsorship from a nonprofit led by a convicted child sex offender. The organization in question is the Carolinas LGBT Chamber of Commerce (CLGBTCC), with Chad Turner as its President and CEO.
The festival’s official sponsorship list includes the CLGBTCC—yet nowhere does the promotional material disclose Turner’s criminal past.
Turner’s history is deeply troubling. In 1998, three young boys accused him of sexual abuse, tied to his prior role as music director at a church. Though trial documents show varying accounts, he was ultimately convicted on one count involving a 14-year-old victim, charged with lewd acts with a minor under 16. Turner received a 10-year sentence, though he only served two years before being released on parole.
Following his release, Turner reestablished a public presence in LGBT advocacy. He first became head of the CLGBTCC in 2012 and, despite his past, has retained major corporate partnerships under his leadership, including with banks and energy firms.
This case clearly shows the danger of exposing children to both LGBT ideology and events that support it. While Turner’s status as a child sex offender is ignored in the interest of pushing LGBT ideology, children are left exposed to the dangers of the ideology and the further moral degeneracy that follows it.
