Report reveals eight infants surviving abortion attempts left to die in Minnesota

A recent report brings attention to a disconcerting trend in Minnesota, revealing that at least eight infants who survived abortion attempts were left to die. Data from the state’s Department of Health uncovers this alarming fact, attributing it to bypassed life-preserving measures intended to save these infants upon birth. Under a law enacted in 2015, Minnesota was obligated to report instances of live births after an abortion attempt and the ensuing outcome. The report identified five such cases between January 1 and December 31, 2021, and three in 2019, wherein no efforts, or merely “comfort care measures,” were exerted to ensure the babies’ survival.

Former President Donald Trump, during his term, addressed the issue by highlighting the occurrence of post-birth abortions in certain states, a claim often rebuffed by outlets like CNN as false. However, the recent revelations from Minnesota offer evidence to back Trump’s assertion.

Tim Walz, Minnesota Democrat and vice-presidential nominee, effectively nullified the reporting obligation in May 2023, replacing the specific requirements to save an infant’s life with a vague stipulation for “care.” Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris is yet to enforce any clear limits on abortions or protective measures for the unborn, pointing towards unrestricted abortion in their campaign.

The unsettling data underlines the urgent need for action and for protective measures to ensure the survival of infants born alive after unsuccessful abortions, and the need to push for legislation banning abortion altogether.
