Pro-life activist Mark Houck is picking up steam in his campaign to represent Pennsylvania’s 1st Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. The Catholic pro-life campaigner is running for the Republican nomination in the April 23 primary, taking on four-term incumbent Brian Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick describes himself as a Catholic but has mixed voting records on life and family issues.
One year after his acquittal for alleged violations of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, Houck is making strides in local Republican committee votes. This suggests growing momentum for a potential upset victory over the incumbent. Last November, Houck announced he was suing the Department of Justice for what he described as “malicious and retaliatory prosecution” against him.
Houck’s campaign platform centers on fighting to protect all people and their rights under God and the Constitution. He asserts that his platform is grounded in common sense, and aims to protect his family, other families in the district, and the Republic against an “out-of-control government”.
