The playbook is simple. LGBT activists demand that everyone publicly display the LGBT flag to openly affirm their ideology. The York County Catholic School Board’s decision not to fly an LGBT flag at the Catholic Education Center in June sparked headlines and accusations from activists. One person claimed that based on this decision alone, the school board was “unsafe for the LGBTQ2IA+ community”, thus using their ideology against a religious institution.
Similarly, in Norwich, Ontario, the city council limited the flags that may be flown on city property to federal, provincial or municipal flags. This decision, intended to promote unity and harmony, was criticized as discrimination and a violation of human rights by activists who demanded that the specific flag representing their ideology be included.
