No doubt we have many open fronts, and every day we encounter a new ideological scare. In this case we have it brewing in the European Parliament.
This is a proposal for a European Commission regulation for the recognition of parenthood between member states and the creation of a “European Certificate of Parenthood”.
What is this and why should we care?
Because this regulation introduces paternity, a non-legal concept, into family law and modifies the content of national family law. It poses a direct threat to the legal sovereignty of member states, especially for those that do not recognize same-sex unions and surrogacy.
As the Europe for Family platform explains, the proposal aims to equate “Paternity and filiation”, but the concept of “Paternity” is not a legal concept.
By insisting on using the term “parenthood”, the European Commission intends to impose all types of unions and means of reproduction on all Member States, even in countries with constitutional or public order prohibitions”.
In other words, we are on the verge of the recognition and legalization of surrogacy in Europe.
The key question is who will benefit from this? And the answer is the same as always: ideologies that seek the destruction of the family and of European culture and roots. As usual, they rely on and make use of those seeking to do business and make business out of things like conception and having babies. They have been able to expand their business exponentially with surrogate wombs, i.e. assisted reproduction clinics.
