Virginia Governor Youngkin recently vetoed bill HB 781, which replaced the term “mothers” with “birthing people”. Opposing the ideological left’s efforts to erase gender distinctions, Youngkin reestablished the Task Force on Maternal Health Data and Quality Measures via Executive Order 32, with its traditional terminology intact.

Committed to improving the health outcomes for mothers and infants, Youngkin’s initiative aims to pinpoint the additional benefits needed to support maternal healthcare across the Commonwealth.

“Improving health outcomes for mothers and infants is foundational to making Virginia the best place to live, work, and raise a family. Mothers play an incomparable role in the lives of their children and families, and it is imperative that we do the necessary, collective work to ensure they are receiving the care they deserve,” said Gov. Youngkin.

The renewed task force is set to ensure that mothers and newborns have access to the right resources by enhancing the understanding of healthcare needs and concerns faced by Virginia’s mothers. Youngkin’s emphasis on preserving traditional language demonstrates his administration’s commitment to recognizing natural distinctions between men and women.
