At an event hosted by Turning Point USA at Indiana University, conservative commentator Tucker Carlson forcefully asserted that abortion is not merely a political or moral issue, but a clear-cut act of murder. He emphasized that in every civilized society studied — past and present — the taking of innocent life for convenience or ideology amounts to human sacrifice.
When a student pressed Carlson about whether America is a secular nation and questioned whether Christian values have been imposed upon society, Carlson responded firmly: “It’s not actually a secular country.”
In the course of the discussion he said: “Abortion is murder, obviously, and everyone knows that.”
He went further to contend that the ritualistic nature of abortion mirrors ancient practices of — and that the “shout your abortion” movement reveals a “wicked, gleeful enthusiasm” for extinguishing innocent human life.
During the exchange, when the student argued that abortion is not ritualistic, Carlson cited an example of a mobile abortion clinic deployed near the Democratic National Convention in 2024: “Are you joking? They had an abortion truck outside the Democratic Convention.” He said that arguments about “bodily autonomy” rang hollow in light of the hypocrisy he perceived in COVID-19 vaccine mandates, and that abortion, at its core, is about the “thrill that people derive from killing.”
“In every civilization,” Carlson said, “the same ritual that has been studied is human sacrifice. … That’s the most evil thing there is.”
He drew a direct link between the act of killing one’s own child and a feeling of god-like power, saying “Killing your own child makes you feel (power).”
