Tom Homan, the appointee for border czar under the incoming Trump administration, strongly criticized Democrats after an alleged murder by an illegal alien in New York City. The Guatemalan national, previously deported under the Trump administration in 2018 after illegal border crossing, reportedly set a woman on fire on the subway.
Homan blamed the growing crimes allegedly committed by illegal aliens on the current administration’s policies and sanctuary jurisdictions. He accused Alejandro Mayorkas, the Secretary of Homeland Security, of restricting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from arresting and deporting illegal aliens unless they’re already convicted of a serious crime.
Blaming the tragedy firmly on the administration and also on New York Governor Kathy Hochul, Homan criticized the latter’s support for sanctuary policies in her state. Hochul’s actions, according to Homan, have led to several instances of violence perpetrated by illegal immigrants in cities such as Buffalo and Syracuse. Furthermore, Homan condemned Governor Hochul’s green light law which restricts local law enforcement’s access to DMV data and cooperation with immigration officials. The tragedy in New York, Homan believes, is a grim consequence of such policies.
