Utah law enforcement officials have identified a transgender person as the prime suspect in a double homicide case. Collin Troy Bailey, who goes by the name of Mia Bailey, is believed to have killed two people inside their own residence this week. The victims share the same last name as the suspect.
On Tuesday night, the police responded to a report about gunfire in a neighborhood in Washington County, Utah. Upon entering the home, the authorities discovered the bodies of a man and a woman who had been fatally shot. Subsequently, the police identified 28-year-old Bailey as the main suspect in the case. They described him as a “transgender male transitioning to a female,” who frequently changes hairstyles and dons wigs.
Law enforcement located Bailey the following afternoon, hiding out in a field of weeds, and quickly arrested him without further incident. Bailey’s arrest was captured on video. Although the police have yet to reveal the identities of the victims, reports indicate that the crime took place in a house listed as Bailey’s residence. It appears that the victims could be his parents, Gail and Joseph Bailey, both listed as residents.
Washington City Police Department Lt. Kory Klotz reported that Bailey was found carrying a firearm, which he put down before his arrest. The weapon has been since retrieved by the officials. St. George Police Department Officer Tiffany Mitchell confirmed that the suspect is now under custody and no further injuries have been reported.
