The Left’s attacks on the Supreme Court: worse than the January 6 “rioters”

The Left loves to shout that the pro-Trump January 6th rioters wanted to impede legitimate government action—that is, they wanted to stop the certification of the 2020 elections that would award the presidency to Joe Biden. Despite claiming that the rioters wanted to overthrow the government, not one of the people who entered the Capitol carried a gun and the only person killed that day was an unarmed woman who was shot by Capitol police. Nothing was burned in the Capitol and minimal damage was done. A lack of purpose seemed to dominate the actions of the crowd that day.

The blatant hypocrisy of the Left in regard to impeding government action can now be clearly seen in the actions of left-wing activists who are trying to intimidate the Supreme Court into not issuing a decision that would overturn Roe v. Wade and make abortion a matter for each state to decide. Ever since a draft decision that would overturn Roe was leaked on May 2, 2022, left-wing activists have been doing all they can to intimidate the Supreme Court justices that supported the draft opinion and otherwise prevent the court from declaring that abortion is not a constitutional right. For weeks now leftists have been protesting outside the houses of Supreme Court justices in violation of federal law. Section 1507 of Title 18 of the U.S. Code states:

“Whoever, with the intent of interfering with, obstructing, or impeding the administration of justice, or with the intent of influencing any judge, juror, witness, or court officer, in the discharge of his duty, pickets or parades in or near a building housing a court of the United States, or in or near a building or residence occupied or used by such judge, juror, witness, or court officer, or with such intent uses any sound-truck or similar device or resorts to any other demonstration in or near any such building or residence, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.”

This law just codifies common sense. If people are allowed to intimidate judges, justice will be perverted and the rule of law will be severely weakened.

We also learned last week that a deranged left-wing activist had gone to the house of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanagh to assassinate him so Kavanagh could not vote to overturn Roe. As Fox News reported:

“Nicholas John Roske, 26, of Simi Valley, California, was carrying a gun, ammunition, a knife, pepper spray, a screwdriver, zip ties, and other gear when he was arrested by Montgomery County [Maryland] Police Department officers in the early morning hours Wednesday, according to a criminal complaint. Roske, who is charged with attempted murder of a federal judge, told police that he was upset about Kavanaugh’s positions on Roe v. Wade and the Second Amendment, the complaint said.”

And now on June 13 left-wing protestors blocked all roads that lead to the Supreme Court in Washington in an effort to prevent the justices from delivering an opinion that would overturn Roe. As reported by the Daily Caller:

“Left-wing protesters blocked intersections Monday leading to the Supreme Court in anticipation of a possible verdict on the abortion decision that could overturn Roe v. Wade. Protest group ShutDownDC said it successfully blocked several intersections Monday morning after previously having posted its plans to do so ‘to rise up for the transformative change that our communities need’ on its website.”

All these efforts to intimidate the Supreme Court show one thing: the Left is fully committed to perverting justice and to replacing the rule of law with the rule of the mob.  And one of the worse things about all these efforts of intimidation is that the Democratic Party has failed to condemn them. Efforts to subvert justice are wrong only if they are committed by the Right.

So the next time you hear left-wing Democrats talking about January 6th, just remind them of all the efforts of their comrades to overthrow the rule of law in America. Hypocrisy on a greater scale is hard to imagine.
