Rules for thee, not for me

At yesterday’s NFC championship football game in Los Angeles, all attendees were mandated to wear masks except when actively eating or drinking. Signs on the scoreboard were prominently displayed and announcements were made to the crowd to remind attendees of the mandatory requirement.

As usual, this mandate apparently did not apply to rich, powerful or famous elites. Governor Gavin Newsom, the king of COVID mandates, wore no mask yesterday while having his picture taken with basketball legend Magic Johnson. Neither did LA Mayor Eric Garcetti. Nor did San Francisco Mayor London Breed, whose own mandates go so far as to require people show proof of vaccination in order to eat at San Francisco restaurants.  The politicians were photographed with Johnson in a ritzy, mega-expensive luxury suite.

Aside from their rank hypocrisy, politicians like Newsom, Garcetti and Breed (not to mention Nancy Pelosi, Lori Lightfoot and many other leftist Democrats) continue to demonstrate by their flagrant disregard of the mandates they impose that they do not actually believe they are needed to protect public health. They must think that people are too stupid to understand that if the mandates were truly about protecting lives and health, those imposing the mandates would take them seriously.

But they aren’t, and they don’t.
