Pro-life activists show resilience after brutal assault, return to advocate for unborn babies

Two pro-life men who were brutally assaulted outside a Baltimore abortion facility in May have shown tremendous resilience by returning to the sidewalk to peacefully advocate for the lives of unborn babies. Dick Schafer, 84, one of the men who was attacked, continues his pro-life outreach outside the city’s Planned Parenthood five days a week. Schafer expresses his dedication to the cause, stating that he will continue until his last breath.

The attack, which occurred on May 26, involved a white male who violently tackled Schafer to the ground and kicked his fellow pro-life advocate, Mark Crosby, in the face. While the physical pain and injuries from the assault have taken a toll on the victims, they believe it is a small price to pay compared to the lives lost in abortions. Crosby, who suffered severe head trauma and required multiple surgeries, is resolute in his commitment to the cause.

The Baltimore City Police Department is still searching for the attacker, who remains at large. Video footage of the assault has been released to the public, and the police have requested assistance in identifying the suspect. Schafer and Crosby are receiving legal representation from the American Center for Law and Justice.

The assault on these pro-life activists is not an isolated incident. Pro-life individuals and organizations have increasingly become targets of violent attacks and harassment. Since 2022, there have been over 300 reported incidents, including vandalism, death threats, arson attempts, and physical assaults. The FBI has acknowledged that a significant portion of abortion-related threats or acts of violence have been directed at pro-life organizations.

Despite the hostility and risks they face, pro-life advocates like Schafer and Crosby continue to peacefully advocate for the protection of unborn children. Their determination and unwavering commitment to the pro-life cause serve as an inspiration to others who believe in the sanctity of human life.
