In a shocking revelation, a popular TikTok personality, known as Rachel Queen Burton, has been convicted for sexually abusing children and stalking a family. The Adelaide Advertiser reported that Burton, who claimed to be a “proud Trans Woman living [his] best life with no regrets” on TikTok, was arrested for crimes committed in South Australia in 2019.
Burton’s crimes came to light when he was arrested by the Joint Anti Child Exploitation team. Despite initial denial, he eventually pleaded guilty to charges including the production and possession of child pornography, gross indecency, and indecent assault.
The court case shed light on the horrific ordeal faced by the victims and their family, who were forced to flee their home due to Burton’s persistent harassment. While he was able to amass over 36,000 followers as a local LGBT icon on TikTok, his true nature remained hidden behind this online presence.
During a hearing, the victims’ mother accused Burton of causing the family to live in constant fear and uncertainty, suffering from chronic nightmares. The children described Burton as a ‘monster’ who had ‘trapped’ them, stealing their peace and happiness.
Despite claiming to be undergoing sex-change hormone therapy, there is currently no indication that Burton will be transferred to a women’s prison. He will remain in custody until further sentencing in April. Burton’s case has sparked a larger debate about the need for greater scrutiny in online communities and has led to calls for stricter rules against those who misuse their online influence.
