Poland’s education minister: Rising child suicide is due to gender ideology

Czarnek stated, "It's necessary to protect family and marriage values and not attack them with Marxist and LGBT ideologies that wreak havoc in the minds of children."

Polish Education Minister Przemysław Czarnek said the rise in suicide attempts among children in Poland is due to brainwashing by “LGBT, neoliberal and neo-Marxist ideologies.” He suggested strengthening traditional values, including church attendance, to help young people better distinguish between good and evil, as Notes from Poland reports.

Experts also point to the underfunded, overburdened and outdated mental health support system, as well as the impact of the pandemic, as the main causes of the increase. According to figures, Poland recorded its highest-ever level of 1,496 suicide attempts by minors in 2021, followed by an even higher number of 2,031 last year. The latter figure was more than double the average for the years prior to 2021.

The education minister blames “the strong crisis of the family, the attack on it, on Christianity, on the Church, on religion, on everything that distinguishes good from evil.” Czarnek stated, “It’s necessary to protect family and marriage values and not attack them with Marxist and LGBT ideologies that wreak havoc in the minds of children.” He emphasized that “in smaller places where people go to church, the distinction between good and evil is better.”

Czarnek has previously blamed “the moral depravity and wickedness of so-called sex educators” for suicide attempts among minors.

He has also claimed in the past that “LGBT ideology comes from the same roots as Nazism” and that its adherents “cannot be equated with normal people,” so we should “stop listening to this crap about human rights or equality.”
