Parents from Renmark High School, South Australia, have expressed outrage after an LGBT sex educator delivered a graphic lesson to ninth-grade students on March 22. The educator, from government-funded mental health organization, Headspace, was reported to have discussed bestiality in relation to the LGBT community, causing alarm among students and parents alike. Although parents were informed of the presentation described as being about ‘respectful relationships’, they were left shocked after the content included explicit details about the speaker’s sexual preferences and activities in the LGBT spectrum.
The incident arose when explaining the meaning of the ‘+’ in the LGBTQIA+ acronym, where bestiality was listed as a potential activity practiced within the community. The explicit nature of this lesson caught parents off guard and led to several students leaving the classroom, using the need to ‘go to the bathroom’ as an excuse.
The incident has raised concerns internationally, including in Canada, where social and moral trends seem to mirror those in Australia. Critics argue that this could potentially open the doors for similar content to be presented to Canadian students under the guise of ‘LGBTQ+ education.’
Campaign Life Coalition’s National “Pride” Flag Walk-Out Day is being promoted in response to the incident, encouraging parents and grandparents to protest against LGBT indoctrination by pulling their children out of school from May 31 through June 4.
