No More “Husband” and “Wife,” Says the UN: Another Front in the Global Sexual Revolution

Striking at the heart of the natural family, the United Nations is urging elimination of the very words that describe the marital roles on which society is founded.

Striking at the heart of the natural family, the United Nations is urging elimination of the very words that describe the marital roles on which society is founded: “husband” and “wife.” Under the guise of “creat[ing] a more equal world by using gender-neutral language,” the UN declared in a recent tweet—from an agency whose name is anything but gender-neutral: “UN Women”—that various traditional terms should be replaced, such as: “maiden name” by “family name”; “boyfriend” and “girlfriend” by “partner”; and, most ominously, “husband” and “wife” by “spouse.”

That the UN would use its prestige on the world stage to attempt to suppress language describing the key roles in the natural family is a telling manifestation of what Gabriele Kuby—acclaimed sociologist and a speaker at our World Congress of Families—calls the “deconstruction of male and female sexual identity” and the resulting “destruction of freedom in the name of freedom” in what has become a “global sexual revolution [that] affects everyone—man and woman, young and old, our personal existence and the future of society…. Good is called evil, and evil is called good.”

As the revolution rages worldwide, explains Kuby, it “increases its speed and the fierceness of its attack on democratic freedoms from one day to the next…. There are influential individuals and NGOs that drive its global implementation,” and their endgame is clear: “marriage and family will be dissolved,” to be replaced by “arbitrary relationships between two or more people” supported by government subsidy. If this all sounds too bizarre to be true, one need only recall what the Soros propaganda vehicle OpenDemocracy posted on March 24: “We deserve better than the family. And the time of corona is an excellent time to practice abolishing it.” The title of the subversive article was to the point: “The coronavirus crisis shows it’s time to abolish the family.”

Boldly countering this destructive revolution, IOF unites and equips leaders around the globe as we stand together in defense of what we declare to be “the family, a universal community based on the marital union of a man and a woman,” which, as “the ultimate foundation of every civilization known to history,” is still “the bedrock of society, the strength of our nations, and the hope of humanity.” This timeless truth was emphasized by Confucius—hailed by historian Will Durant as the greatest thinker in history—who insisted that the world cannot be put in order without first putting in order the family.

And when asked what he would do if he were governor, Confucius reportedly stated that he would first “rectify the names” to make words correspond to reality—or, as more commonly quoted, “The beginning of wisdom is to call things by their proper name.” IOF boldly celebrates and proclaims the irreplaceable roles—and titles—of husband and wife, united in their equality and unique in their complementarity as they fulfill their divinely ordained roles for the benefit of their children and society.
