In a triumph for biological truth and free speech, NHS nurse Jennifer Melle has been cleared of breaching patient confidentiality and reinstated to her clinical duties after a grueling disciplinary battle. The 40-year-old veteran with 13 years of impeccable service hailed the decision as a “common sense” win, crediting her Christian faith and public support for sustaining her through the nightmare.

The saga began in May 2024 at St Helier Hospital in Surrey, where Melle referred to a convicted paedophile patient— a burly, 6ft-tall biological male identifying as a woman, escorted by prison guards—as “mister” and “he” during a private chat with a doctor. Overhearing this, the patient unleashed a torrent of racist abuse and violent threats, leaving Melle traumatized and in tears.

Instead of backing her, hospital bosses hauled Melle in the next day, accusing her of “misgendering” and issuing a final written warning. Referred to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) for potential striking off, she faced scrutiny over her beliefs that biological sex is immutable—a stance clashing with radical gender mandates. Feeling institutionally harassed, Melle anonymously shared her story with the Daily Mail on Sunday last year, without revealing patient details, prompting suspension on full pay for alleged privacy violations.

A panel at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals Trust exonerated her, allowing a return to work amid an outpouring of solidarity. Over 18,000 signed a petition; MPs like Claire Coutinho blasted the NHS’s capture by radical gender ideology that sidelines women; and protesters, including triumphant Darlington nurses from a similar case, rallied with signs demanding “safe spaces for women” and upholding reality.

Melle, backed by the Christian Legal Centre, is pressing ahead with a tribunal against the NHS for violating her gender-critical rights under human rights law, set for April 13 in Croydon. The trust apologized for the racial abuse she endured, affirming zero tolerance. This ruling signals a turning tide against ideological overreach, affirming that truth and faith won’t be silenced in healthcare.
