Michigan-based private college, Hillsdale, alleges it has been targeted by Facebook. The college’s claim comes after Facebook disabled Hillsdale’s online course page on the same day a program scrutinizing communism and Marxism was introduced. In a recent update, Hillsdale notified its community that Facebook had issued warnings to users who attempted to access the college’s online courses page. Hillsdale responded in a light-hearted manner, stating the platform seemed to correlate their content with illicit activities.

In response to these allegations, Meta, Facebook’s parent company, issued a statement to Fox News Digital asserting that the disabling of Hillsdale’s page was an error and that it has since been corrected. The online course page, which reportedly had over 300,000 followers was shut down briefly after the introduction of its course on cultural Marxism. The course critically evaluated the influence of Marxism on various societal aspects including, racial tensions, radical feminism, transgender ideology, and fiscal irresponsibility, to cite a few.

The timing of the shutdown, according to Hillsdale, hindered the outreach of their course. Facebook ads of the course were running in advance before being flagged down, ironically on the strategically significant launch day. Emily Stack Davis, Hillsdale’s Executive Director of Media Relations and Communications, cast suspicions on Facebook’s justification for the shutdown. She noted that the flagged ads had been running for over a year without any changes.

Hillsdale College, known for its conservative and Christian liberal arts curriculum, offers an increasingly popular classical education. This provides a notable alternative to many other U.S. universities which embrace “woke” ideologies within their courses.
