The European Parliament has adopted a disturbing resolution affirming that “trans women are women,” urging the EU to treat self-perceived gender identity as a priority in all feminist policies and international diplomacy. Approved on February 12, 2026, in Strasbourg, the text—spearheaded by Socialist MEP Lina Gálvez—calls for the EU Council to defend legal recognition of transgender identities abroad and integrate them into equality strategies.
The resolution demands that biological males identifying as women be fully included in women’s rights programs, effectively redefining womanhood to accommodate gender ideology. A proposed amendment stating “only biological women can become pregnant” was overwhelmingly rejected, with 233 MEPs voting against it, 200 in favor, and 107 abstentions—highlighting the left’s dominance in prioritizing feelings over facts.
Conservatives condemned the move as an ideological assault lacking consensus among member states. VOX MEP Hermann Tertsch blasted it: “The Eurochamber has adopted as an international priority an ideological agenda that redefines the concept of woman and imposes it as the Union’s official position.” The Patriots for Europe group protested their exclusion from negotiations, warning the stance could influence the EU’s mission to the UN Commission on the Status of Women in March.
This non-binding resolution sets a dangerous precedent, pressuring non-EU countries to embrace transgender policies and eroding protections for biological women in sports, prisons, and single-sex spaces. It exemplifies the EU’s shift toward radical agendas that undermine traditional values, family structures, and national sovereignty on fundamental issues like sex and equality.
