Former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom was ejected from a WNBA game after a heated courtside confrontation with Chicago Sky guard Natasha Cloud.

Freedom attended Sunday’s game between the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever wearing a black T-shirt reading, “WOMAN noun. Adult human female.” He was also at a pregame rally supporting Fever guard Sophie Cunningham, who has faced backlash after speaking out in favor of keeping women’s sports and private spaces reserved for biological females.

The confrontation occurred late in the third quarter. After Cloud scored and Indiana called a timeout, the Sky guard approached the baseline where Freedom was sitting, pointing and shouting in his direction.

Freedom stood up, raised his arms and stepped toward the court as players, officials and security moved between the two. Arena security then escorted Freedom from his courtside seat. He briefly spoke with police before leaving Wintrust Arena.

“I just got kicked out of a WNBA game for supporting WOMEN! Let that sink in, AMERICA!” Freedom wrote afterward.

The incident comes amid a growing debate surrounding transgender athletes and women’s sports. Cunningham has publicly argued that biological males should not compete against women, while Freedom and former NBA player Royce White recently announced plans to enter the 2027 WNBA Draft in an effort to challenge the league’s approach to gender eligibility.

Freedom has said his effort is intended to expose inconsistencies in policies based on gender self-identification.
