Former President Donald Trump has vowed to penalize doctors who carry out sex-change surgeries on minors without parental consent. In crucial excerpts from his scheduled Tuesday remarks in Howell, Michigan, Trump stated that any medical professional performing such procedures on a minor without parental consent would face felony charges.
The ex-president’s promise comes in response to current leftist initiatives, both domestically and internationally, that assist minors in obtaining irreversible transgender procedures without seeking their parents’ approval. Trump’s stance addresses cases as recent as last week, where a father’s daughter was taken away from him by the Swiss government after he refused to allow her to begin medical transition procedures.
Trump also criticized liberal states such as California, where lawmakers remain zealous in facilitating gender transition attempts in minors, even without parental consent. In July 2023, the California State Assembly passed a bill requiring judges in child custody cases to consider whether a parent has affirmed a child’s “gender transition.” Parents who refuse to comply risk losing custody of their child.
