Democratic Rep. Shri Thanedar of Michigan is facing fierce backlash after defending the gruesome practice of abortion in shocking terms. The controversy erupted during a Capitol Hill hearing when pro-life Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) confronted abortion advocate Jessica Waters, graphically describing the barbaric methods used to kill unborn babies — procedures that expose the evil reality of abortion.
Thanedar, representing part of Detroit, rushed to Twitter (X) to attack Republicans for “intruding” on women’s “private medical decisions.” When Gill pressed him on his “favorite kind of abortion,” Thanedar replied with chilling indifference: “My favorite kind of abortion is the kind that’s safe, legal, accessible, and none of your d-mn business to regulate. And no amount of fearmongering by describing what goes on to a half-ounce fetus with no consciousness, self-awareness, or feeling of pain is going to change that.”
Pro-life leaders denounced the Michigan Democrat’s words as demonic and monstrous. Princeton professor Robert P. George fired back that every human being possesses inherent dignity from the moment of conception — not based on size, development, or abilities. Australian Sen. Babet simply called the remarks “demonic.” Rep. Gill highlighted Thanedar’s own disturbing past, noting his former testing lab abandoned over 100 beagles, and declared, “I care a lot more about saving babies than being politically correct.”
Thanedar’s dehumanizing language reveals the dark heart of the Democratic Party’s abortion extremism. For decades, most Democrats have opposed even modest protections like the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act and the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. They champion abortion on demand through all nine months, often with taxpayer funding, while working to strip states of any authority to protect the innocent.
