A case against two street preachers, John Dunn and Shaun O’Sullivan, who were arrested for refusing to stop preaching from the Bible on Glastonbury High Street, has been dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). The preachers, who believe that same-sex sexual practice and transgenderism are incompatible with the Bible and the Christian faith, were initially arrested under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

The situation escalated into controversy as one of the arresting officers, who were sporting an LGBTQI+ pride rainbow lanyard and an ‘ask my pronouns’ badge, challenged the preachers when they referred to them as a man. However, when the case reached Taunton Magistrates’ Court, the CPS was unable to present their case and dropped all charges.

Mr Dunn and Mr. O’Sullivan, both of whom are born-again Christians and regular preachers across the UK, have benefited from the support of the Christian Legal Centre.
