In a disturbing incident at the University of Brasília’s Dary Ribeiro Campus, a 19-year-old female student was arrested on November 11 after confronting an older man who identifies as “non-binary” in the women’s restroom. Feeling uncomfortable with his presence, she insisted he leave, pointing out that he was biologically male and unfit for the space. The confrontation escalated into a verbal altercation, with the student labeling him a potential threat. Shockingly, the man called the police, claiming transphobic discrimination, leading to her being charged with “racial injury”—a contrived offense equating gender identity objections to racism.
She was detained overnight without bail, while the man admitted to routinely using both male and female facilities. Similar injustices are plaguing Brazilian institutions. At the Federal University of Paraíba, a female janitor and university administrator face up to five years in prison for “social racism” after asking a trans-identifying male to exit the women’s restroom in 2022. The janitor, a mother of a young child, has been unable to find work since, and the administrator endures severe stress from “misgendering” accusations.
In another alarming episode at the University of Brasília, a female student was pursued and threatened by a bearded man after questioning his use of the women’s facilities, with viral footage capturing his aggressive demands for “respect.” The persecution extends beyond campuses, as evidenced by Isabella Cêpa, who fled Brazil and received asylum in Europe earlier this year. Facing up to 25 years in prison on five counts of “social racism” for social media posts criticizing a trans-identifying politician, she was deemed a victim of political persecution.
Her case marks her as the world’s first “gender-critical” refugee, highlighting the tyrannical suppression of truth in favor of radical gender ideology. Western nations must heed Brazil’s descent into authoritarianism, where the government, in collusion with LGBT NGOs, has deployed an AI system called Aletheia to surveil online speech. This “Platform of Respect” scans for “misgendering” or objections to gender ideology, flagging content for prosecution.
