Brazilian social media star faces government investigation for slamming LGBT agenda

Brazilian social media star Nine Borges, a UK-based scientific consultant with 265,000 Instagram followers, is under federal police investigation for “transphobia” and “defamation” after a September 2024 video slamming government-backed pro-LGBT initiatives. The fiery clip, which racked up 15,000 likes and 180,000 views, called out officials for funneling taxpayer money to radical NGOs promoting gender ideology, spotlighting Symmy Larrat—Brazil’s LGBT National Secretary, a biological male identifying as female.

Larrat, who uses explicit self-descriptions on social media, filed a complaint, triggering the probe. Borges was summoned for questioning in October, with authorities now pushing for formal charges. This crackdown exemplifies the leftist Lula administration’s intolerance for dissent, weaponizing “hate speech” laws to silence critics of the transgender agenda.

Borges, a vocal opponent of gender ideology, stands firm: “I simply highlighted concerns about public funding and influence—facts that deserve scrutiny.” ADF International, providing her legal defense, warns this case threatens core freedoms. Executive Director Kelsey Zorzi stated: “Criticizing government policy isn’t a crime; it’s democracy. Brazil’s actions echo authoritarian tactics, stifling debate on issues vital to families and faith.”

Under Lula, Brazil has ramped up pro-LGBT policies, including drag queen story hours in schools and transgender mandates, clashing with the nation’s strong Catholic roots. This investigation highlights the global assault on free expression, where questioning radical ideologies risks ruin. As Western nations grapple with similar overreach, Borges’ fight underscores the need to protect speech against ideological tyranny, preserving traditional values amid cultural erosion.
