Accusations surface over Biden Administration’s mistreatment of pro-life activist Heather Idoni

The Biden administration is confronted with accusations of persecuting pro-life activists who protested against abortions inside abortion centers, while ignoring numerous pro-abortion attacks on churches and pro-life and pregnancy centers. Notably, one pro-life advocate jailed for protesting abortion has allegedly been subjected to harsh, human rights infringing treatment.

Heather Idoni is amongst several pro-life activists charged or convicted for supposedly violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act that restricts the free speech of pro-life Americans. As reported earlier, the activists, found guilty of violating FACE, potentially face an 11-year prison sentence.

Recently, a report emerged claiming that Idoni has been mistreated in prison, forced to wear shackles in court, and put in solitary confinement for 22 days for sharing food with other inmates. The shackling incident took place during a court appearance in Nashville. The presiding judge, shocked at the sight of Idoni fettered at the wrists, waist, and feet, demanded the removal of the shackles. The US marshal complied only partially at first, freeing just one wrist. It was only after further insistence from the judge that both of Idoni’s wrists were unshackled, though the restraints around her waist and feet were left in place.

Despite her ordeal, Idoni remains steadfast in her faith, stating that she has consistently felt the presence of God, believing that “God is going to be glorified” in her struggle. Both Idoni and the other convicted pro-life advocates are appealing the rulings.
