A stomach bug is better than the new Cinderella

Use your democratic right and make this flick flop at the box office. Nothing will change, but at least you'll have swam against this twisted tide.

Cinderella 2021

A screenshot from the trailer for Kay Cannon's "Cinderella" movie (2021)

I’m not going to watch the movie, because I’ve read the book and because the trailer is enough to put me in a bad mood. And yes, I’m criticizing a movie without having seen it, because there’s nothing to see.

The new Cinderella directed by Kay Cannon showcases the scullery maid who dreams of living in a mansion. When her wicked stepmother forbids her to go to the ball where Prince Charming (Nicholas Galitzine) will be looking for a wife, she counters her by saying “My future depends on it”–not the wedding to the man of her dreams, but (reversing the means with the end) not being able to show off the dress she has been sewing herself for weeks; the top of her homemade line.

Then the fairy appears. ‘Checking all the boxes’, it is played by homosexual black actor Billy Porter; “Fab G” having replaced the traditionally cherubic fairy godmother. Using his magic wand, Fab G first gives Ella (Cinderella, played by Camila Cabello) a masculine blue trouser ‘power’ suit, as she is–after all–a “businesswoman”.

At the grand ball, we can hear music by Queen being played. When Prince Charming sees Cinderella, he falls in love at first sight and, reflecting his whole life in her eyes, says: “I choose you to be my princess”, to which she replies: “What about my job?” Ella states she doesn’t want to spend her life waving from the royal stage adding, “I have dreams that I must follow…”

As far as we can see in the trailer, she ditches the handsome prince and instead chooses to pursue her career. Or perhaps not, but I’ll never know because I’ll never watch the movie.

This is called pre-emptive warfare.

A stomach bug is, in fact, much better than this. So use your democratic right. Send this rubbish back to its creator and reject it with the weapon of popular boycott. Not that it will make a difference; it will be a success however it fares at the box office. But at least you real men and women will have stood against the waves of perversity.

A country that believes it doesn’t need heroes is a broken country. And a world where fairy tales are raped is a sick world. Therefore, please deny yourself and your children the pain and torture of watching the new Cinderella movie. Return to the original, cultivate the dream that sets you free, wield the freedom that is wedded to truth.

My only regret is the good Pierce Brosnan plays the role of the king.
