Thumbs up–spotlight on the good things happening in the world

Dutch justice minister declares the latest expansion of the euthanasia law illegal, a persecuted therapist in Spain counselling to homosexuals is exonerated in court, and a US study shows that the spread of birth control in poor countries neither improves the wellbeing of people nor promotes development.

Life

  • Northern Ireland. Catholics and the Presbyterian Church defend the life of the unborn despite the peremptory orders of the government in London, the bearer of an ultimatum for the total liberalization of abortion by March 2022.
  • United Kingdom. Lord Alton, leader of Britain’s pro-life MPs, sharply criticizes the new Animal Welfare Act as being far more protective of animals than abortion regulations are of human babies.
  • Netherlands. Minister of Justice Rinus Otte declares illegal the rules on euthanasia that authorize the induction of death even for people suffering from mental disorders.
  • Mexico. A strong protest from the Catholic Church after the liberalization of abortion.
  • United States of America. Research published in the authoritative Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences definitively debunks the myth that the spread of contraceptives increases wellbeing and promotes development in poor countries. A study carried out over twenty years proves the falsity of this mental tour, often turned into ideological and propagandistic slogans.
  • Poland. The leaders of the pro-abortionist front who led the blasphemous protests in the country’s churches last year, when the Constitutional Court decided to ban eugenic abortions, will be put on trial.

Family

  • Guatemala. President Alejandro Giammattei presents a National Plan for the Protection of Marriage, Family and Unborn Life involving 11 ministries and numerous state agencies.
  • Peru. Evangelical pastor Milagros Aguayo, who was elected to parliament, swore at the inauguration stating that her references were “my country, my God, my family, democracy, life and family.”

LGBT+

  • Spain. Victory in court of Dr. Elena Lorenzo, already subject to persecution for having carried out counseling sessions and provided help to homosexuals.

Freedom of education

  • United Kingdom. With leftists attacks in the schoolroom being met with staunch opposition (and victories, as in Hungary), it would be good to recall the fight of a brave 13-year-old girl who threatened to drag Oxfordshire County Council to the High Court of Justice for deciding to include transgender orientation in school curricula. This young girl’s clear stance was enough to make the local authorities withdraw their decision.
  • South Africa. Homeschooling is becoming increasingly popular and successful. A mother tells of the results obtained by her daughter who will enrol in university even though she is not yet 17.

Religious freedom

  • Spain. Despite the government’s attempts to requisition the Benedictine complex of Valle de los Caídos, outside Madrid, the abbot, Father Santiago Cantera, shows the world the serene determination with which the friars live through the siege.
  • United Kingdom. A London court rules that Christian preacher Joshua Sutcliffe, already fined in April for preaching in the streets, neither broke health regulations nor violated other rules.
