On Wednesday, March 1, embarrassed U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland was questioned, amid fires from Republicans and silences from Democrats, at the Senate Judiciary Committee. Republican senators pressed Garland with a barrage of pointed questions related to anti-Catholic and anti-life biases within the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI, the lack of investigation and arrests against the dozens of bombers who have been vandalizing, burning, destroying pro-life centers, churches and even threatening the lives of Supreme Court justices since last year.
Questions from Senators Lee, Kennedy, Cruz, Hawley, Cotton and Blackburn concerned the failure to enforce federal laws against protesters who were protesting illegally (after the leak of the Dobbs draft ruling) near the homes of Supreme Court justices, as well as the lack of investigation and arrests against the terrorist organizations Ruth Sent Us and Jane’s Revenge. Some argued that the Justice Department did not “agree with the Dobbs decision and was happy to refuse to enforce the law and allow threats of violence.”
Garland has repeatedly noted that pro-lifers protesting outside clinics are easily identifiable because they do so peacefully and in daylight, while the perpetrators of the countless acts of vandalism against churches and pro-life centers have mostly acted under the cover of darkness, thus evading attempts at identification and arrest. Good people do not commit wrongdoing at night and therefore are more easily punished; more difficult, however, is to strike down wrongdoers who act in favor of darkness.
Senator Hawley, in particular, proved how the Justice Department acts by discriminating against pro-life activists who are arrested outside abortion clinics or in their homes, while pro-abortion activists have gone unpunished after burning down pregnancy centers or threatening pro-life leaders and judges. No apology from Garland, even though all the Republican senators have provided detailed evidence of the shocking facts affecting pro-life and believing Americans over the past ten months and as much clear evidence of Justice Department’s complicity and FBI connivance.
But it was not only Garland’s inability to provide convincing answers: the Democratic Party senators, unable to defend the work of the US Attorney General, were also baffled. After 250 pro-abortion attacks on pregnancy centers and churches, only two people have been arrested. These are the facts that leave citizens of all Western countries speechless and make the Democratic Party, along with the Biden Administration, complicit in violence and intimidation unacceptable for any democracy.
