A woman pretending to be a man, Logan Brown, who appeared heavily pregnant on the cover of Glamour UK’s June Pride digital issue, sparked controversy on social media. Born female, the 27-year-old unexpectedly became pregnant with her non-binary drag performer partner, Bailey Mills, the magazine reported. Brown, who was off testosterone due to health issues at the time, said she initially felt like her “manhood” was erased after the positive pregnancy test.

Brown, who gave birth two weeks post-shoot, said she eventually came to terms with her pregnancy, although she did express concerns over its impact on her career. As she told Bailey about his pregnancy, she recalled thinking, “I’m pregnant,” followed by anxiety over the fact that she was a pregnant “man”. The revealing cover story ignited criticism against the publication online.

Critics, like columnist Piers Morgan, took issue with the portrayal of a biological female pregnancy as a male pregnancy. Former trans influencer and detransition activist, Oli London, accused Glamour UK of pushing a “woke” agenda and “mocking women.” He contended that featuring a “pregnant man” on the cover was disrespectful towards the experiences women face during pregnancy.

Gay rights activist, Fred Sargeant, argued that Glamour has misunderstood the essence of Pride Month, asserting it should be about commemorating and celebrating the original intent of Pride, not indulging in trans pandering. In contrast, Brown admitted that she was not surprised by the intense criticism, acknowledging her situation isn’t a common occurrence.

Despite the backlash, Brown shared that she and her partner had also received a lot of support and “queer joy.” She has been open about her pregnancy on social media platforms like TikTok, brushing off hate comments. Brown, who is also authoring a children’s book titled “My Daddy’s Belly: The Miracle of Male Birth,” has chronicled her journey through pregnancy on a blog and social media.
