Poetically and musically, it is a worthless, insignificant song, with no artistic value whatsoever. Rhymes are set to music so unmelodic that it can hardly be remembered. A honkey-tonk sound of an electrical piano hurts the ears as well as the intelligence of a listener. The person who speaks and then sings has a permanent grin attached to his face and all his facial expressions throughout the songs make him look like a true villain. Enough to doubt his intentions.
Performing in a seemingly effortless manner, easily but resolutely, the singer seems desperate to convey a message. And he succeeds at it. However, the message is very problematic.
The song comes to the word “convert” within seconds, and that is a difficult and dangerous word. It openly refers to the conversion of children from supposedly gay-hating to gay-loving, stating that all parents’ resistance to that conversion is futile. Ironically, they claim the song to be satirical. They obviously do not know the meaning of the word. The song is not satirical. It is sinister and diabolical as it clearly explains their true agenda aimed at our children.
Is it not strange enough that they have an agenda at all? We, as parents, do not have “an agenda” when we raise our children to be kind and loving, to keep the family and Christian values. Is it not common to political parties or movements to have an agenda? Where does that leave the Chorus then? What are they really?
The accompanying video is clearly suggestive as well. It begins with a clean, pure, innocent, albeit a little shady, white background which changes to all shades of blue when the rest of the chorus joins in – from peace bringing to heavenly angels’ singing. Although it closely resembles the Muppet Show chorus, it does not come across as amusing at all.
The true message from 81 grinning faces enthusiastically singing about converting the children to whatever they might think is worth converting them to, is that there is a lot of them and they are serious about it.
We can only see them as predators. And we do not like it.
