Spain’s radical-left Podemos party is advancing a non-binding motion in Congress to impose mandatory comprehensive sex education across all educational stages, starting from Early Childhood Education at age three through Baccalaureate and Vocational Training.
The proposal, debated on February 17, 2026, calls for a state plan coordinated with autonomous communities to ensure “effective implementation” nationwide, making it cross-curricular and adapted to developmental stages.The curriculum would incorporate a “gender perspective, human rights, sexual diversity, and the prevention of male violence,” developed with specialists in “sexual health, feminist pedagogy, and LGBT rights.”
Teachers would receive specific, ongoing training in “sexual and reproductive health” to standardize content and eliminate territorial inequalities, shifting away from occasional or voluntary school initiatives. Evaluation and monitoring mechanisms would track compliance in each region, identifying and correcting shortcomings—effectively using state power to enforce uniformity, overriding parental rights and educational freedom guaranteed by the Constitution.
This move exemplifies the far-left’s obsession with introducing gender ideology at younger ages, standardizing indoctrination of children and teachers while limiting families’ ability to educate according to their values. Family associations and civic platforms have voiced alarm over exposing toddlers to such content, demanding transparency on materials and programs. The initiative echoes concerns from a recent Spanish summer camp accused of attempting to “queer” kids, highlighting the radical agenda’s encroachment on childhood innocence.
