Pride Month: when radical LGBT activists viciously come after us

The message being delivered during Pride Month is loud and clear: if you hold to traditional values, which humanity adhered to for thousands of years up until about five minutes ago in the West, you are a bigot and Nazi who must be silenced.

Pride Month is coming again as it does every June. Next month almost every woke store in America will be trying to outdo one another in showing which is the most supportive of the LGBT movement. Rainbows will be ubiquitous and will be seen on everything from clothing for people (and animals, as I saw last year at Pet Smart) to billboards at major sporting events. This year Target is trying to be king of the rainbow hill by unveiling in support of Pride Month new pro-transgender clothing, such as chest binders that will allowing females “identifying” as males to flatten their chests and “packing underwear” that will allow the same group to “have a bulge” between their legs. The message being delivered during Pride Month is loud and clear: if you hold to traditional values, which humanity adhered to for thousands of years up until about five minutes ago in the West, you are a bigot and Nazi who must be silenced.

Retired Archbishop of Philadelphia Charles Chaput in his book Strangers in a Strange Land gives us three reasons why the woke are so viciously attacking us. First, they are attacking us ruthlessly because only ruthlessness can have any hope of nullifying thousands of years of common sense and religious adherence. Chaput writes:

“As the scholar Agusto Del Noce observed decades ago, the sexual revolution, for all its talk of freedom, has a distinctly totalitarian undercurrent. Classic virtues like modesty can’t be ignored; they must be recast as abnormal. If the goal is uprooting millennia of traditional sexual morality, a need exists for the means and the ruthlessness to enforce its uprooting…And so what we face now is what the Wall Street Journal described as ‘the new intolerance.’ As the Journal editors note, ‘even as America has become more tolerant of gays, many activists and liberals have become even more intolerant of anyone who might hold more traditional cultural and religious views.’”

Second, the radicals ferociously attack us because evil cannot tolerate the good. Chaput states:

“The more problematic the behavior, the more sacred the liturgy of alibis…Marriage and family are sacrificed to the ‘equality’ of same-sex relationships. Parents are applauded for helping their children change gender, something seen as an act of child abuse just decades ago. And as these strange things flower, the language of tolerance and diversity invariably hardens into repression against ‘haters’—those who hold to older biblical ideas of right and wrong. The reason this happens is simple. No man, no society, and no nation can serve two masters. Evil cannot abide its critics. Evil does not want to be tolerated. It needs to be vindicated. It demands to be seen as right.”

Third, we are being viciously attacked for our beliefs because the woke cannot tolerate any reminder of the prior moral order. Chaput writes:

“It’s not enough for an adulterer to divorce the wife he lied to, abused, and cheated on; he’d really prefer her to completely disappear. So, too, as people and cultures turn away from their former convictions, reminders of the past become more haunting and more irritating. The Church and Christian beliefs will be resented because they exist, they have life, and they move faithful persons to act. And critics who zealously attack the Church now will continue to do so more zealously.”

So as Pride Month approaches, we will once again have to brace ourselves for the invective and hate the woke elites in Big Business, Big Tech, Big Sports, Hollywood, and the media will hurl at us. Only by demonizing us as haters and Nazis do the woke elite believe they can have any chance of mainstreaming ideas and lifestyles at odds with reason, common sense, science, natural law, the Bible, the Koran, and thousands of years of human history. But all of us should stand strong in the face of these attacks because we know, in the end, truth always wins out.
