Poland Re-Elects Reformer President Andrzej Duda

On Monday, the official results of Poland’s close Presidential election were released, with incumbent President Andrzej Duda narrowly gaining his second term.

The election attracted global attention, as Duda’s Law and Justice party (PiS) is seen throughout the EU as a brake against many aspects of the globalist agenda pursued by more left-leaning countries in Brussels.

Particularly disappointed by the results was the LGBT lobby in Warsaw and beyond, as Duda has positioned himself as a staunch opponent of gender ideology and other radical fruits of the sexual revolution. Duda’s primary opponent in the election was the socially liberal mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, who has been seen as a champion by the LGBT community in Poland since signing a declaration of “LGBT tolerance” for his city last year.

With his reelection, pro-family and pro-life groups hope to see the PiS’s reform agenda continue, including possibly the proposal recently reported here at iFamNews that would enshrine in the Polish Constitution the right of children to a stable upbringing by a loving mother and father, expanding Poland’s Constitutional definition of marriage as the union of a man and a woman to cover adoption and family structure as well.

Duda’s victory is certainly a blow to the aspirations of sexual revolutionaries who want to supplant the traditional values of Poland—deeply bound up with Roman Catholicism—with their own vision from outside the nation’s borders. To pro-family advocacy groups, it is a sign of optimism and hope that Poland will continue, along with other countries like Hungary, to put up an opposition against the globalist pursuits to redefine marriage and family and undermine the sanctity of life.
