Life eats us. We live fast, with many objectives, many challenges, many real or created needs, with many commitments and many plans.

The day flies by and the night comes and sometimes we realize that we have not found time to pray or to go to mass, or to take care of someone who is lonely, or to go to the talk organized by the parish or to the presentation of the book written by that person who helped you so much.

We are very busy, we don’t have enough time. But the thing that occupies our time is not life. Life is “that other thing” for which we have no time.

Life is calling your parents, visiting your friend in the hospital, helping your sister by doing her a favor, starting the day at Mass or with a time of prayer before the Tabernacle. That is life, the rest is losing it. You have to work, of course, but the day has more hours, and it’s up to you to use them well.

A life without time to love is no life at all.

It is true that we cannot always do everything we should or would like to do, but we can include God in our schedule just as we include eating or showering. And we can do one thing for love every day, a visit, a call, an escort or an assist.

Marthas and Marys. And we are still unable to choose the best part.

The days go by, full of things and occupations, and in reality, they are empty and hollow. And the months and the years…and in the end “we will be examined in love”, we will have to show our hands and maybe they will be totally empty.
