Following the brutal assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at a college event, several NFL games have paused for moments of silence in his memory. The tribute began with the Green Bay Packers vs. Washington Commanders game on Thursday night, where the league asked fans to join in “silent reflection,” condemning violence and urging unity.
Since that Thursday evening, at least five more teams have held tributes to Kirk. Among them: the Giants and Cowboys, the Rams-Titans, Patriots-Dolphins, 49ers-Saints, and Bills-Jets. These gestures took place before games or just prior to the national anthem, showing that many franchises felt compelled to acknowledge the tragedy.
At Lambeau Field, the announcer’s message was strong: “The National Football League asks that you please join us in a moment of silent reflection following the murder of Charlie Kirk. The NFL condemns all violence in our communities. It will take all of us to stop hate.” These words echoed through stadiums that honored him, reinforcing the NFL’s stance against violence.
